Are you one of those people who get nervous and think that there is something wrong with their health the instant they feel something weird like feeling dizzy while standing up or waking up with cramping feet? If so, then this may be useful as it explains some of the weird but common health symptoms that you can easily take care of.
Too many Hiccups
Hiccup happens when there is a sudden intake of air going to your diaphragm, closing your vocal chords. Your hiccup ranges from 50-60 times for a few minutes or 60 times per minute. Sometimes it can even last for hours, which is still deemed normal by doctors. However, if you’ve tried holding your breath, drinking water, breathing on a paper bag, have someone shock you, eat a piece of bread, eating a spoonful of honey but have been hiccuping still 48 hours later, then it’s safe to panic now as this may be a persistent hiccup already. If your hiccups stay for a month, then definitely head to your doctor as it could be an intractable hiccup and it could already be deathly serious.
Being awakened by painful Foot Cramps
Especially if you are in your 60s, you may have already had a few episodes of waking up with really painful foot cramps that last for several minutes. Number 1 reason is probably just fatigue. Did you perhaps over-run and forget to do your stretching yesterday? Second factor could be just a minor hiccup on the oxygen distribution process which may be caused by old age, smoking, and other medical issues like diabetes, hypertension or high blood pressure. Another reason possible is dehydration as it can exhaust necessary nutrients in your body like magnesium and potassium and cause imbalance. Such foot cramp is only temporary and simple preventive measures like proper hydration all through out the day especially if you are into sports and exercise will resolve the matter. However, if you observe that you’ve been experiencing it more frequently, have it checked immediately as it may be a peripheral artery disease or a symptom of some other serious health problems already.
Too frequent bowel movement
You may think that something is wrong with your digestive system if you visit the toilet 3 times a day or only once a week, or if your poo is too thin or in odd shapes, but according to doctors, there is nothing wrong with the frequency and shape it takes. Nor do you need to worry if it reeks more than the usual. In fact, the smellier it is, the better you know that your digestive organ is working fine to keep the icky bacteria away and make you healthy. What you need to be concerned about is if there is a sudden change in your bowel movement like diarrhea or a sudden change in color. Brown and green are 2 most common color of the poo, so if you see it in black or bloodish red, it may indicate an internal bleeding, which may be caused by colorectal cancer or hemorrhoids.
Tasting letters and hearing colors
This condition is called synesthesia, and although medically speaking it is termed as a neurological condition, to be able to taste words and numbers and see various colors as music is playing is a remarkable phenomenon only those whose senses overlap with their other senses. It may seem odd but there is nothing wrong with this condition and can even help you do well in math because you can sort of see a calculator in your mind or see the points of pain in your back if you are suffering from fibromyalgia since you can literally see colors in the painful areas. Whether you have acquired it genetically or suddenly after stroke or brain surgery, it can still be considered a gift as not everybody can say that they live a colourful life.
